My Tutor Hour is written by people who have spent years teaching, tutoring, leading schools and studying how learning works.

Note: the profiles below are sample profiles used while the site is being set up. They will be replaced with our contributors’ own biographies.

Dr Helen Marsh

Cognitive psychologist and former science teacher

Helen taught secondary science for twelve years before completing a PhD on memory and retrieval practice. She now works with schools on turning cognitive science into everyday teaching habits, and writes mainly about memory, spacing and how students revise.

Kwame Asante

Primary head teacher

Kwame has spent 25 years in primary education, the last ten as a head teacher in London. He writes about early reading, classroom routines and what school leaders can realistically ask of busy teachers.

Priya Raman

EdTech and AI researcher

Priya researches how digital tools and AI are used in assessment and feedback. Before that she was a computing teacher. She covers EdTech and AI with an eye on what the evidence actually shows, not what the marketing promises.

Tom Gallagher

Maths tutor and former exam marker

Tom has tutored GCSE and A-level maths for fifteen years and spent a decade as an exam marker. He writes practical pieces on tutoring, metacognition and helping anxious learners build confidence.

Dr Sofia Lindqvist

Research communicator

Sofia trained in educational neuroscience and now translates research for teachers and parents. She writes our Research Roundups and has a particular interest in debunking popular learning myths.
