About

My Tutor Hour is a shared blog and news site about how people learn, written by educators, tutors and researchers with long experience in the field.

We cover two sides of education that are too often kept apart: what actually happens in classrooms and tutoring sessions, and what cognitive science tells us about memory, attention, motivation and understanding. When a new study, technology or policy appears, we ask what it means in practice and whether the evidence stands up.

What you will find here

  • Cognitive Science: how learning works, explained clearly and without hype.
  • Classroom Practice: practical, evidence-informed strategies you can use.
  • EdTech & AI: honest looks at the tools changing education.
  • Research Roundups: recent studies summarised, with their strengths and limits.
  • News and Opinion: developments in education and our contributors’ views on them.

Our approach

We aim to be accurate, readable and fair. We link to sources, say when evidence is weak or disputed, and correct mistakes openly.
